Festivals & Traditions of Uttaradit

The Phraya Phichai Dap Hak fair · Langsat-longkong festival · Laplae traditions

Uttaradit holds festivals and traditions throughout the year — hero commemorations, fruit fairs and local rites. If you like timing a trip around festivals and merit fairs, this article gathers what's on and when, so you can plan your trip to fit.

When Are Uttaradit's Festivals?

The province's biggest event is the 'Phraya Phichai Dap Hak and Red Cross Fair', held around January each year in front of the Provincial Hall and the Phraya Phichai Dap Hak monument, in remembrance of Uttaradit's hero. It features performances, market stalls and Red Cross activities. Read more about Phraya Phichai in our "Phraya Phichai Dap Hak" article.

Another long-awaited event is the 'Uttaradit Langsat, Sweet Longkong and OTOP Products Festival', held around September at the Phraya Phichai Dap Hak Stadium in front of the Provincial Hall, over about 10 days and nights. It coincides with the peak of langsat and longkong, with fruit contests, stalls of fresh and processed fruit, and local goods — a treat for any fruit lover.

In Laplae district there are also local traditions and temple merit fairs throughout the year, such as the merit fair at Wat Phra Thaen Sila At. Dates can shift from year to year, so it's best to check the latest schedule with the province or the Tourism Authority of Thailand before you travel.
