Sirikit Dam
Thailand's largest earth-fill dam · Reservoir views amid the hills
A giant dam holding back the Nan River, with views over a reservoir that stretches as far as the eye can see — one of Uttaradit's grandest natural attractions.
About Sirikit Dam
Sirikit Dam is the largest multipurpose earth-fill dam in Thailand, located in Tha Pla district, Uttaradit. Built across the Nan River, it was granted its name in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
The dam generates hydroelectric power, supplies irrigation for farmland, and helps ease flooding in the Nan River basin. Above the dam lies a vast reservoir ringed by lush green mountains.
The dam crest is a popular viewpoint, looking out over the wide expanse of water set against the line of hills. The surrounding area has parks, floating raft accommodation, and boat tours of the scenery — perfect for relaxing and breathing in the fresh air.
