Souvenirs from Laplae & Uttaradit

Khao kaep · teen jok woven cloth · durian paste · seasonal fruit

You can't leave Laplae empty-handed. This town has plenty of local souvenirs to choose from — long-keeping snacks, handwoven cloth made by villagers, and processed fruit. Here's a round-up of what to buy and where to find it.

What Souvenirs to Buy in Laplae

Laplae's most famous edible souvenir is "khao kaep" — a thin, translucent cracker made from rice flour and black sesame, eaten crisp on its own or paired with "mee phan," seasoned blanched rice noodles wrapped in khao kaep, a Laplae style that's hard to find elsewhere. Both are local foods travellers love to take home.

On the craft side, Laplae is known for its handwoven cloth, especially the "teen jok sin" — a heritage skill of Laplae's Tai Yuan people, with intricate patterns hand-woven using the ancient jok technique. It's a souvenir that's both valuable and genuinely usable. There are also other woven patterns and handicraft keepsakes among the community's OTOP products.

Fruit lovers won't be disappointed either: there's "durian paste" and processed fruit from Long-Lin Laplae available year-round, while in fruit season (May–Sep) there's also fresh durian, langsat, longkong and mangosteen.
